Since your post was originally written the real estate industry has been turned upside down. There are so many low priced homes available these days that it is hard to believe there is still a need for "real estate bird dogs". Most agents should be able to fill this role without problem. Just read an article in our local paper yesterday here in Colorado with a headline "Short Sales Gum Up the Market". It said 12% of all home sales in the U.S. at this time are short sales. Even with that it is hard for investors to buy these homes (can easily take 6 months) and of course this is difficult for the sellers trying to avoid foreclosure. There are so many short sales, and so much paperwork is required by banks (who don't want to eat the losses) that the system is all gummed up.

Imagine getting paid to learn how to real estate invest. That is exactly what real estate bird dogs do everyday. They learn how to real estate invest by finding other people discount real estate property.Attending real estate meetings will give you a chance to find out who is doing business in your area. Do not just focus on the investors that are at the meetings. Ask the investors who are at the meetings about who else is doing business in the area.

Nice insight. I work with all sorts of clients that have found a way to profit in the real estate market. Some of my Huntington Beach CPA clients do this and make some money, especially during times like these.

Good information. Another twist on this is companies that specialize in buying bulk foreclosures. They buy properties in quantities and resell them to investors.

They handle the renovations and property management. All the investor has to do is put up the money.
