If a person who owes child support is gambling that money, then the state has every right to take that money. Otherwise us law abiding citizens get to pay the bill

I think that is a brilliant idea. If you have money to gamble away, and win, you can catch up on your back child support. It’s just like winning the lottery. Why would you NOT have to pay your past debts. The money that is owed is not a “made up” amount by the mothers/fathers. It is by law, and is decided in a court room by a JUDGE. I am not above the law and neither is anyone else. My child support a month is only half of what it takes to raise a child. I still support the other half myself. There is no reason anyone should have to do it alone, especially while the other is out gambling.

A really interesting debate. I think that winnings should go towards child support, as even if that person couldn’t afford to pay anything before they sure can after a win! The well being of a child should always be paramount over a selfish parent.

I think the point shouldnt be where the money comes from but rather the welfare of the child. In all of this, the one which benefits the least is the child. A better system should be implemented taking only and only the child’s concern.

Most people after losing money and then finally getting it back and a slight profit would go crazy if they had it taken away from them

Ummmm… random post, I didn’t realise this was on the cards (excuse the pun!)

It would never work. Casinos are an emotional place with some emotionally charged people losing their money or trying to take their winnings. I cant see that deducting money from the winnings will go down at all well!

Casinos can really give you some good money but the risk involve in it is very hard for me to imagine I would like to advise all for not to go fr casinos.

Wow – some commenters want to simplify a complex issue. Having society give financial assistance to people is not wrong. The administration of it is messed up though
