Choosing the Best Online Options Brokers

Options trading may not be a popular choice among investors because of the risks involved but this type of investment offers flexibility and leverage for those brave enough to go into it.  Options trading is the act of trading options on a stock or other asset.  It involves a contract between a buyer and a seller over a transaction for a specific price and at a specified date. For those who fully understand how options trading works, this is a way to make a lot of profit while risking little money.

Options trading is usually conducted through online options brokers.  It is a wise move for the investor to scout around first for the best online options brokerage before parting with money. There are some factors to be considered in choosing the best online options brokerage.  The firm’s experience or years in the business of options trading, the trading platform, the data feed and informational support are just some of the indicators of a good options brokerage.

Investing in PGMs

Platinum and palladium, together with ruthenium, rhodium, osmium and iridium, form the Platinum Group Metals or simply called PGM. These six metals have the same physical and chemical properties and are usually found together in mineral deposits. The PGMs are known for their catalytic properties, that is, they are used as catalysts to achieve the chemical transformation of another substance.  The PGMs are used extensively because they are stable metals. They are resistant to high temperature and chemical attack.  They are used in manufacturing and industrial processes. In fact, most of the goods manufactured today contain PGM.

Platinum is the more common metal among the six and it is widely used in fine jewelry. Platinum is also used as an alloy for various metal products such as in making laboratory and dental equipment.  As an investment, platinum is not as popular as gold or silver but it is also traded in the market. Its price can even rival the price of gold, depending on its supply and demand.

Palladium has an important part in the technology used for fuel cells which gives us electricity, heat and water.  Like platinum, palladium is also not as popular as silver and gold but it can also be traded. Some people invest in palladium by buying bullion coins bars made of palladium.

Deal Only The Best Options Brokers

When we think of investing in securities, more often than not, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds, are the terms that readily come to mind. They are the most common types of security that we usually hear of or read about in financial news.   But there is another financial instrument called options that one can trade in.

What is an option?  An option is a contract between two parties, the buyer and the seller, for a future transaction.  The contract states that the buyer has the option or the right to buy a certain asset from the seller for a specific amount within a specific time period. This contract grants the buyer the right but not the obligation to finalize the transaction.  For example, the buyer agrees to buy the seller’s property for one million dollars within six months.  Should the property’s appraised value increase during that time, the buyer will still pay the agreed amount of one million dollars.  However, if the value of the property falls, the buyer may not push through with the transaction.

Different Types of Bonds

Investing in bonds is very safe, and the returns are usually very good. There are four basic types of bonds available and they are sold through the Government, through corporations, state and local governments, and foreign governments.

The greatest thing about bonds is that you will get your initial investment back. This makes bonds the perfect investment vehicle for those who are new to investing, or for those who have a low risk tolerance.

The United States Government sells Treasury Bonds through the Treasury Department. You can purchase Treasury Bonds with maturity dates ranging from three months to thirty years.

Treasury bonds include Treasury Notes (T-Notes), Treasury Bills (T-Bills), and Treasury Bonds. All Treasury bonds are backed by the United States Government, and tax is only charged on the interest that the bonds earn.

Corporate bonds are sold through public securities markets. A corporate bond is essentially a company selling its debt. Corporate bonds usually have high interest rates, but they are a bit risky. If the company goes belly-up, the bond is worthless.

State and local Governments also sell bonds. Unlike bonds issued by the federal government, these bonds usually have higher interest rates. This is because State and Local Governments can indeed go bankrupt – unlike the federal government.
